As I prepare students at the Temple to work on the land, leylines and dragon lines on Earth have to be taught, and so I got interested in this book as it brings forward the BIG shift we are experiencing on Earth and the serpent/dragon's role in this change. I enjoyed reading it and found it so relevant that I want to introduce you to this work:

“Revealing how dragons and serpents are deeply embedded in the story of humankind and the Earth itself, the author takes us on a journey through their myths, legends, and symbolism in different ages and cultures around the world.
Stefan Broennle explains how the dragon is an archetype of the elemental force of the Earth, white the serpent, which can change its skin and regenerate, carries the elemental force of rebirth and is also connected to the Earth through its relationship with the feminine.
Examining traditions and beliefs originating in Europe and Asia, he explores the spiritual meaning of dragons and serpents and how they reflect the development of our connection to the Earth. He recounts tales of famous examples, including Fáfnir, the Hydra, and Nidhogg. He also examines the meaning of the dragon in geomantic symbolism and the location of soul paths, dragon paths, and ley lines. A powerful exercise enables us to awaken the dragon energies within us and connect more deeply to the Earth."
This book shows us how the dragon/serpent is deeply connected with the earth. It doesn't appear as a negative force in many places of the world, but as a benevolent elemental force, connected also to the primordial waters. And so, the author invites us to :
Rethink our relationship with the dragons
Set the dragons free, rather than slay them
Discover the dragon within us and to enhance our Spiritual comprehension of the forces of nature
What I enjoyed about this book
One of the strengths of this book is the author's ability to offer concise research to a wide audience. His writing style is clear, well-structured, and easy to follow.
He presents a well-researched and insightful analysis and delves into the symbolism of these mythical creatures with such ease. He also shares about the importance of understanding and interpreting these ancient stories and how they can provide insight into our own lives and the world around us.
Some insights I got from the book:
The meaning of Drakon "the animal that sees" : Perceiving beyond, enlightenment.
Serpents and dragons are protectors of the consciousness of the Earth and its spiritual treasures.
They also symbolize the sun (as nagas).
They are Psychopomps, Guardians of the threshold.
They bring fertility.
They symbolize vital energy, sensuality, sexuality, and Earth itself.
They help in the transition.
They give the ability to understand animals' language.
They are connected to the tree of Life. They protect and provide knowledge.
In some myths, the dragon is the bringer of culture: rice cultivation, fire, and cooking, etc.
"When they awaken, space and time will shatter", Stefan Broennle
As humans grow more disrespectful of nature, the dragons and serpents, angry, shake the earth, bringing floods, earthquakes, and fires...
Prompts: What this book made me ponder about
Reading this book will make you reconsider and reflect on the serpents and dragons you encountered in your journeys, and what they shared with you on a personal level. As an exercise, here are some thoughts and prompts you can meditate with.

Patriarchy and how it suppressed and killed the serpents and the dragons. What they were killing was all that these dragons and serpents represent:

The fear of snakes and frightening stories about them: is a fear from our ancestors, from our own dragon, from the power of Earth?

Stories of humans marrying snakes are a recurring theme in folklore and mythology around the world. They often feature a snake that is transformed into a human, who enters into a marital relationship for example. These stories explore themes of metamorphosis, forbidden love, the importance of keeping secrets, saying the truth and the consequences of breaking promises.
Do these stories depict a desire to reconnect with the dragons as a way to reconnect to Earth , and regain sovereignty? Do they re-teach the Cosmic Laws?
